The Free Art Project - Rhythm and Vines 2008
The Free Art Project is an open invitation to anyone attending the New Years event Rhythm and Vines in Gisborne to create a collaborative artwork.
The Concept:
Get a 1.5×5m canvas for anyone to do ONE brush stroke (squiqqle, splat, flick etc) on and get a photo of them pointing to their brush stroke.
Email the photo of them pointing to their brush stroke and then cut the canvas up into pieces and post them a piece as a souvenir of their 08/09 New Years.
This will be a fun project and we hope to encourage accessibility, participation and collaboration of the arts with the public.
We are currently seeking sponsorship of a canvas, paint and paint brushes.
- Provide a creative and interactive environment open to the public to create and experiment with at the Rhythm and Vines with the aim of creating an experience and content that will be spread virally through word of mouth and media coverage due to it’s unique concept.

Art on Snow Day
The vision for this is to create a huge mural on the NZSki.com ski fields by dying the snow with food colouring in spray packs.
Other ideas include:
- Snow art and sculptures with competitions and prizes to involve the public
- Ice sculptures
- A bouncy castle…. of course
- Some kind of weird snowboard/ski art comp (will have to think about this one a bit more)
The aim behind this event is to encourage people to get outdoors to have a fun day in the snow and participate in a potentially revolutionary new art medium.
I haven’t seen this done before although it probably has, if not I am totally claiming it! *James Stewart
****UPDATE I tested out the Snow Art idea
Robot art recruitment.
We want talented artists and designers to profile and sell their art on ArtKlick.co.nz so are building robots from old computer parts (thanks Molten Media) to put in Uni’s, Polytechs and Colleges.
Below is the fist one - still has a way to go….. More to come soon.
